Do not be an Echo - Tamanna

“Be unique, not an ape”

“Be original, not fake”

“Be you, not someone else”

The human mind craves uniqueness. Any unfamiliarity arouses curiosity. One can repeat a movie or a book maximum of 4-5 times. People love to hear their name echoed in the mountains, however, after a certain point, it gets annoying. Despite knowing all these, people proceed with the flow.

Why do people follow the crowd?

Why is it essential to have one's own voice?

“Be a voice, not an echo”– Albert Einstein

The quote implies having a voice of your own, unique inner life of your own, and not blindly following others.

Do not be an echo suggests not being a copycat. It tells one to develop their opinion, rather than imitating someone else. Do not be an echo of the world, be a unique person with your ideas and thoughts. Do not just repeat what the world tells you.

It is a fact that nothing is precisely original in this world. Everything is either done or told by someone in some part of the world yet, it does not imply that one cannot have an original perspective of their own or a way to complete a task.

Normal is dull yet, it has become a social norm. People go with the flow since it is risk-free and predictable. Everyone was taught since childhood to continue with the flow to blend in with society. Anyone who runs against the flow faces challenges and is condemned.

Moreover, everyone is born with a unique and distinct soul and, by trying to blend into the created norms, people lose the fire in them. One needs to know that it is necessary to have a voice of their own in this world, where one faces challenges. If one does not stand out from the crowd, one will be lost.

Brendon Burchard said - “Do not imitate what’s popular for acceptance, do what’s authentic for the sake of your soul.”

Everyone yearns to have a voice of their own yet, the mere fear of unknown paths and criticism does not let them have one. It is not effortless to stand apart, strong voices often attract critics and, one has to be brave enough to deal with those critics. If one wants to bring about a change in society, one must have an authentic voice within themselves. Once someone pushes away those challenges, they will rise and be free. One should also keep in mind that their response should not merely be to remain firm but also to act accordingly and remain humble in their resolve as that will ultimately win several people to their personality.

As Osho quoted – “Don’t choose the convenient, the comfortable, the respectable, the socially acceptable. Choose something that rings a bell in your heart.”

Therefore, be your voice,

have a perspective of your own,

not just while delivering a speech,

not just in the boardroom,

not just when it is necessary,

but in everything, you perform.
