What are expectations?
A yarn you knit, thinking of the other person, but there's no surety, whether, it would protect you from this cold world. Expectations are a pseudo support we tend to seek, to provide relief to our mind and to give ourselves some sort of hope to rely on.
This world today, moves by self-interest and is solely guided by it. What one does, is surely for his benefit and there's hardly anyone who thinks of the other person, before citing an action.
We humans, in whatever relationship we are, whatever our relationship with anyone might be, there's always a place in our heart, that presumes something about someone and bounds us to expect something! All relationships are guided by expectations.
Expectations are something that motivates you to action, something which impacts you, and something which affects you and your atmosphere.
But, here's the catch. All of us are here in this world, for one life to live. We are here, to live for whatever time it may be, should we be expecting something from everyone?
Should we be living under the baggage of someone's expectations?
The answer is surely a no! If you will live for people's expectations, then who would live for you?
Do what your heart desires and do what is guilt-free, because today won't ever come back. You are not being rude and selfish by prioritizing yourself and working on your sanity. Work for things that matter to you without hurting others. Having said that, do not keep any expectations from anyone, because once, you realize how selfish this world is, your heart will shatter! You would realize, how wrong you were when expected something out of someone. Everyone has expectations from someone or something-
Parents expecting a typical future for their children is an expectation, children expecting toys or fancy stuff from parents is an expectation. As a reader, if you think of a beautiful sunset ending, that is an expectation. It is hard to not expect because we are surrounded by people, but realize that the fallacy and uncertainty of life are what's important. If you live for the happiness of someone, you could do it for a day or two, or even a month, but after that? Expecting isn't wrong, but the pressure that surrounds it is. Associating your emotions with expectations is the worst you can do. You can always hope but never expect.
This world moves by the motive of self-interests, with no one living for others but themselves. Do not burden yourself with the baggage of expectations, because you're human and not a puppet!
