Filthy lanes and streets of India - Rajdeep Sikder

India is a beautiful country with a lot of diversity and a lot of colourful places to visit. And yet this beautiful country of ours faces petty problems like pollution that needs to be taken care of.

It is not uncommon to walk an Indian street and not come across a pile of plastic garbage by the side of the road. Right? It hurts to just see that.

Each year, countless tourists come to India. What do you feel they think when they see such filth everywhere they go?

Filthy lanes and streets of India is a major problem that needs to be addressed urgently. If not by everybody, at least by the youth.

The streets of India are littered with garbage and plastic waste. A lack of proper waste management systems and infrastructure is one of the primary reasons for the problem.

Additionally, a lack of awareness and education for the importance of cleanliness and hygiene also results in people throwing waste materials here and there.

The government and local bodies are already doing their bit. But they can only do so much if we do not learn from our own actions.

Despite penalties and fines, Indians still litter their own streets indiscriminately. If us Indians do not take care of our land, who will?

We can take up measures on our own. Each time we need to throw something, why not use the waste bins. Just casually throwing something on the streets creates a bad impression on others who might follow. A positive approach might influence people to keep the roads clean. We must build groups and conduct cleaning drives every weekend. Conducting workshops to educate people about clean roads can also be a way to spread awareness.

The problem of polluted streets in India is a significant challenge that requires collective action. It is essential for the government, local authorities, and individuals to take responsibility and work together to make India a cleaner and healthier place to live. By implementing proper waste management systems, promoting education and awareness, and taking individual responsibility, we can help remove the filth off the streets and make India a cleaner and more sustainable country.
