How to deal with procrastination- Rajdeep Sikder

At some point in their lives, everybody struggles with being lazy. It can be frustrating sometimes. It can be stressful at other times. It becomes irritating to the point where you know you want to be productive but you just don't know where or how to start.

Dealing with procrastination can become a serious problem. Setting clear goals and acting on them is one of the most important first steps toward becoming a more active person.

1. Setting clear goals and priorities

One of the main reasons people procrastinate is that they are unclear about their goals and priorities. If you do not have a clear idea of what you are trying to achieve, it can be easy to put things off.

To overcome this, take some time to properly set your goals and priorities. If you want to, you can write them down. Make a plan for achieving them. This will give you a clear sense of direction and help you stay focused.

2. Breaking tasks into small steps

Another reason people procrastinate is that they feel overwhelmed by the size of a task. If you have a big project to complete, it can be tempting to put it off because it seems too big.

To overcome this, break the task down into smaller and more manageable steps. This will make it easier to get started. And it will give you a sense of progress as you work through each step.

3. Creating a schedule

Creating a schedule or routine can also help you overcome procrastination. When you set a routine, you are more likely to follow through on tasks because they become a part of your daily routine.

Try to schedule your most important tasks for the times of day when you are most productive. This will help you be active throughout the day and avoid procrastination.

4. Eliminating distractions

Distractions are one of the biggest obstacles to productivity. If you find yourself constantly checking your phone, or browsing social media, it can be difficult to focus on the task at hand. To overcome this, eliminate as many distractions as possible. Turn off your phone, close your email inbox, and focus on the task at hand.

5. Use Positive Self-Talk

Negative self-talk can be a major barrier to productivity. If you find yourself thinking things like "I'll never get this done" or "I'm not good enough," it can be difficult to stay motivated. To overcome this, try using positive self-talk. Tell yourself things like "I can do this" or "I'm making progress." This will help you stay motivated and focused on your goals.

6. Reward Yourself

Finally, rewarding yourself can be a powerful motivator. When you complete a task or reach a milestone, take a moment to celebrate your achievement.

This will help you stay motivated and make the process more enjoyable. Just be sure to choose rewards that are in line with your goals. For example, if you are trying to lose weight, don't reward yourself with a giant bowl of ice cream.

Procrastination can be a difficult habit to overcome, but it is not impossible. Remember, it's all about taking small steps and staying focused on the end goal. Good luck!
