As humans, we tend to form relationships based on trust and friendship. And we treasure it with our heart. People have a significant impact on our lives, and we tend to underestimate the power that they have over our emotions. Some individuals elevate and motivate us. Others can be a source of negativity. Therefore, it is crucial to choose the people we surround ourselves with.
Know the people, and their priorities.
It is not always possible to be at your best all the time. And there is nothing wrong with it. You do not have to be at your best all the time. If you feel down sometimes, take a break. Talk to your friends. But beware of how they respond. A good friend will understand your situation, and respond lightly. A friend who wants to brag and boast will simply drag you to the mud to make themselves feel good and superior. Adding more load to your burdens. Why mix and mingle with them at all then? Right?
People come in different shades and it is important to differentiate the lighter ones from the darker ones.
People will often try to take advantage of you for their own benefit. The good ones will motivate you no matter what the situation is. They will tell you about the good qualities you have. They will try to distract you if you feel low. While the greedy ones will use you, grind you, patronize you and make you feel smaller at every step. And all of these negative energies will take a toll on your path to success as a person.
Do not let your feelings fool you.
The universe sends signals for you to know. Not picking up phone calls, patronizing you, making fun of you all the time, and using you as a punching bag are some of the common ones. Sweet talks generally come out when they are in need of something. Emotionally or financially (usually the latter).
Read between the lines. And know the difference.
Long story short, choosing the right people to surround yourself with is essential for your personal growth and development. When you spend time with people who inspire you, you are more likely to develop positive habits and behaviours that will help you achieve your goals. You are also more likely to take risks and pursue your passions when you have the support and encouragement of those around you. In contrast, when you spend time with people who drain your energies, you are more likely to develop negative habits and behaviors that will hold you back from reaching your potential.
